Will the motor die after a few years?

The number of hours (rated for >600 hours, or >1,200 kg coffee at filter grind setting) is just basically a minimum guaranteed lifespan by the motor manufacturer - we don't actually expect it to suddenly fail after 1200kg (but the chances of failing will be slightly higher statistically speaking).

The actual lifespan can also vary depending on many factors but that's a minimum expected motor lifespan. In a home setting, we do think of it as almost a life-time service. If the motor does give up, it is possible to change out the motor - all our grinders are designed with repair in mind - depending on the technical/comfort of the the user, we can either supply the part or take the grinder back for a service/replacement. We much prefer seeing our grinders continue working to make delicious coffee for you than going to land fill!
